Just OK

My son wanted to give the Riddell EVX WR pads a try, because they make shoulder pads for the NFL. He is going to be a Soph Varisty WR this year. He found them uncomforable for him. There was too much arching which made the pads bulge in back, and they felt too thick in the chest area. They are the right size so that isn't the problem. He didn't feel the pads were secure when rotating his arms into catching positions. He tightened them as much as was comfortable, but just didn't like how they fit him. I am not saying they are a bad shoulder pad, they just didn't work for him. He is 6'1" and 167lbs. He has always use Schutt pads, which always fit him really well and he has never had a problem with them. It was just a brand change to see what Riddell offered. We sent them back a bought the Schutt O2 Flex QB-WR pads. He loves the Schutt pads. They hug his body more comfortably and the range of motion is great. He has worn Schutt pads since the 6th grade and has taken and delivered big hits with no problems. I guess he is just a Schutt guy. Don,t let this discourage you from Riddell, we just found Scutt to be a better choice and fit for him as a WR.
