Pads are great! Built in backplate is great! Onlything was getting the propersize. In the 2012 edition the XS worked well. I am approx. 4'8" and 95 lbs. Normal build.

Excellent pads for skilled positions. My son plays middle school quarterback and told me these pads were the best he has ever used.

Best Pads for Kids
September 19, 2012

These are the best shoulder pads I was able to find for my boy. A must have for pop warner / peewee players. Better equipment than most League issued pads. The back coverage is great, the wrap around front peice helps protect the ribs well, and the mobility is still good for a position player.

Graet Pads

I just purchased a set of Riddell EVX 18Y youth pads.....A little nervous about sizing according to other reviews, but if you follow the size chart and measure correctly, they fit great. Don't be fooled by the weight scale, my 8 year old is 87 pounds and tall......he wears an extra small according to the measurements given on the web site......Perfect fit! They are very comfortable and my son has excellent range of motion with them on, unlike the pads given out by local teams. This set of shoulder pads also has an elongated back pad for extra protection for those kids that run and throw the ball. We can't wait for the season to start.

EVX 18Y Football pads

Be careful of the sizing as the chart sizes do not add up. Ordered an XS and got an 11--12" pad for our 100lb 10 year old QB, thinking we need a Medium, but who knows based on the charts available. BUYER BE WARE!

The pads arrived on time as scheduled. The pads run big in size and also have a very wide opening around the collarbone area. Nice pads but they are difficult to fit.

GREAT PADS
August 20, 2011

My 11 year old son loves these pads. They give him extra protection and at the same time he has great motion in them. My son goes from one position to another and the pads allow him to do that without his skills being compromised.

Good Looking Pads
May 30, 2011

Ordered a pair for my son who used the entry level Riddell's last year. These look much more sturdy, but hopefully will not limit range of motion. He can't wait to try them out this Fall. It seems sizes run a little big.

Answer:
I understand your frustration, and know that shoulder pads can be tough to fit. However, the most important factor in fitting them is the shoulder size. Not only is it exactly what you're trying to protect, but it's also one of the only things on the pads that you can't alter or change the fitting of. So I'd agree with you that the XS is the way to go. It offers the most appropriate shoulder coverage, and with the adjustable chest straps, you should be able to comfortably, and snugly fit the pads on him.By Daniel from Katy, TX on March 29, 2013

Answer:
We do have them in stock, but these pads might just be a little big for him. Smaller pads, like the Riddell X-Force II Youth or Riddell Warrior IIx Youth shoulder pads would probably work out really well for him, size wise. Size Small in these pads would probably fit him well.
