The Schutt Mid Flex All Purpose Youth Football Shoulder Pads bring Air Flex technology to youth shoulder pads with raised corrugations and vented holes throughout the arch. The 5mm vapor holes maximize ventilation and airflow next to the body for better comfort. The interior cushioning of the Mid Flex shoulder pads features a 2-layer padding system with EVA impact foam and a inner layer of comfort foam. Other features include a 3-point elastic strap that's easy to use and AEGIS anti-microbial protection that's exclusive to Schutt. The all-purpose design of these shoulder pads make them ideal for any position on the football field.

For my 11 year old QB / receiver I tried Riddell pads but the range of motion was really restricted from them when my boy tried to raise his hands above his head. The epaulets were completely stiff and didn't give at all. We tried some Wilson pads which give more range of motion but I'd like to get some better quality.
If not this Schutt can you provide a recommendation for pads that allow the max range of motion for raised arms? Thanks!

Answer:We tried out both the Riddell EVX 18Y and the Schutt Mid Flex. The Schutt Mid Flex definitely have more flex to the epaulets and shoulder caps. The key is also getting the right sizing, especially making sure the pads aren't too big. With the right size pad, the shoulder arch should only stick out about an inch from the shoulder, that will maximize the range of motion for the arms. Other youth pads we carry also seem to be bulkier and stiffer in the shoulders, which leads them to their All-Purpose designation.
