I bought these for my son because a few of his teammates had them. They are fantastic. These pads fit so well, and are very light. My son is 11 and plays RB and LB. He is always getting hit, and he never feels a thing. These pads stay in place because of the velcro straps, and do not restrict movement. My only negative is by yr end last season the velcro straps lost its grip.

Great for Young Kids
May 10, 2016
I purchased these for my 2nd grade son's first year of tackle football. He's a big 2nd grader, and the sizing chart would recommend a large, but I bought size medium because in my opinion, little kids can't hit each other very hard anyway and a lot of kids get turned off to football at a young age due, in part, to the fact that parents put them in such enormous pads that are heavy and uncomfortable. These Wilson TDY Rush pads are LIGHT. I mean, less than 3 lbs. They are lighter than most hockey pads. They are almost light enough to pass for shoulder pads that would come in a football halloween costume, but I can still assure you, there was never one single moment that I worried about this being enough padding for a 2nd grader. The velcro straps make these much easier to take on and off than the normal league-issued pads from the 90's. After suiting my son up with these TDY Rush pads each day, it was a huge pain to help other kids who were wearing the normal, old school pads with draw strings and metal connectors on the breast plate. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the breast and back plates come down too far on the chest I think. I wish they were slightly shorter, but that could be a regulation I don't know about. Also, since the velcro straps cross one another, the first one always stays on tightly, but the 2nd one can sometimes fail to get a "good bite" on the opposing velcro. They never came undone, but i had to re-strap them a few times.
Light Easy to put on and remove Seems like safe, adequate padding Very reasonably priced Gives a kid a big advantage in weight and comfort vs. the standard issue old school pads
The 2nd of two overlapping velcro straps (the one that ends up crossing over the top of the other one) can sometimes not "grab" correctly.

Jesse from New jersey asked:
How much do these pads weigh? I need very light pads with good protection and maintain full range of motion.
Customer Service: These pads weigh 2.6 lbs. They are also very flexible, but are only intended for YOUTH players. If you are in high school or above, you will need adult/varsity pads.

Kenny from VA asked:
What is the difference between the Youth Wilson X-Series 2.0 Shoulder Pads and Wilson TDY Rush Youth Shoulder Pads beside the color? Also are kick plates available for either of them?
Customer Service: The Rush is the lighter-weight version of the X-Series 2.0. The X-Series is more of an all purpose pad, whereas the Rush is used by skill players who may need less padding, but more mobility.

Austin from Longwood, FL asked:
What are the weight, chest size and shoulder width guide lines for the extra small size and for the small size? Thank You
Customer Service: You can find a size chart with the applicable measurements for each size above the drop down menu for selecting a size.

James from asked:
sizing chart from wilson is different then the one for the 2.0 x pads. i know my sons size for the x pads but the chart for the rush would be a size larger. Is this accurate? You would think they would be the same.
Customer Service: Different shoulder pads from the same manufacturer can have different sizing guidelines.
