The University of Wisconsin is the oldest and largest public university in the state of Wisconsin. The Badgers earned their nickname because the lead miners in Wisconsin had to live like badgers as they burrowed tunnels in the early 1800's. Members of the Big Ten conference, Wisconsin is well known for their football program.
