The Riddell Warrior IIx Youth Football Shoulder Pads give you incredible protection without holding you back from being the best player you can be. Strong and durable, these football pads can take any hit and keep you moving safely, season after season. Their flat pad design gives these shoulder pads an incredibly low profile, without sacrificing toughness. This low profile allows you to freely move your head, without your pads rubbing up against your helmet. This design also allows for rigid belts to direct the force of hits away from a small area, to dissipate over a large area. In essence, the entire arch becomes a huge shock absorbing system. My 11-yr-old son claims these are "THE best shoulder pads. EVER!" I, of course, have absolutely no idea, but he seems pretty impressed. The buckling system is different than a lot of others and seems to be more secure and a better fit.

Great for Skilled Players

Another player on my team had a pair of these so I bought them for my son that play's TE and WR, he loved them. The offer very good protection and incredible range of motion to reach out and make catches. Plus the price was great on this site. I highly recommend them.

My 11 year old son wore these pads last year. They have a lot of mobility in the shoulder for skilled players. The buckles and cinches are great for getting a snug fit.

my son used these last year as a 7 year old. he played multi positions as a Qb/Rb/ DL. Pads are light and give great range of motion. He took and gave a lot of hits. As a coach these pads definitely proved their toughness.

I bought the XS for my 8 y/o. The fit was great the protection was great he liked them and said they were very confortable. Great set of pads for all positions at the youth level. Nice buckles on the sides in place of the elastic straps.

can a back plate be attached to these pads? thanks.

Answer:

These pads are pre-drilled to fit a back plate. They can also be modified (drilled) to attach a plate if one does not fit in the pre-drilled holes.

Answer:

More than his weight, what you really want to use, to find the right size shoulder pad, is his shoulder width, i.e., the distance between his shoulder blades. This will give you a better idea of how the pads will properly cover his shoulders when he's on the field.
