Great youth shoulder pads
July 28, 2014
I will say I was a bit scepticle of the pads because they seemed thin and they didn't have a hard plastic shell that normal pads have. Boy was I wrong. I am a pop warner mighty mites coach and I would recommend these pads highly. I have 2 kids on my team including my son that have them and they are great. They protect the kids and allow them to have full movement. The rest of my team now want them. We'll done Wilson.
Light weight Great protection Allows movement

My son has been using the same pair for 2 years and loves them. He even plays around the house with them on because they are light and they make him feel invincible. He plays OL/DL and they have held up great through 2 years of punishment. He has finally out grown them and we look forward to buying his next pair. I will not even consider other shoulder pads.
Padding, weight, range of motion, durabilty
Back plate seems a little small and the velcro in them keeps sticking to his jersey...minor problem

John the Hammers Dad

Hello! and much respect to all the super Dad's or special Mom's who know or care enough to find out! What equipment can make a difference in safety/performance and give restful pre-game night's to well deserved parents. My son (Known affectionately from his coaches and team-mates as the beast or hammer or freight-train) who just turned 9 in 8/2012 and in his third year of intense Pee-Wee football here in (NJ) where our near highest in the nation taxes provide antiquated protective gear equivalent to letting your child play with matches after a long dry spell on a camping trip. I must say' Wilson X Pad 2.0 has won me over...please forget all the other brands . You can let your little trooper dress himself, with these amazing velcro secured and insanely padded super' snug fitting ultra-lite armor plated battle gear. He won't feel half the hit ! No joke! Save the hours I spent to determine this fact . These pads are for real! also I must take this opportunity to say please check out the ZENITH X2 Elite Concussion helmet! No more inflating or headaches or Jaw-Pain this helmet is incredible and with kids getting concussions as high as 5 in one game recently here in N.J please check it out! Thanks.

Excellent Shoulder Pads
October 15, 2012
My 11 year old was using the rec. issued pads, which were OK. I tried several "expensive" sets of pads and he wasn't happy with any of them - until we tried these. The Wilson shoulder pads are easy to put on and take off, easily adjustable, comfortable, allow freedom of movement and offer outstanding protection. The padding is also removable for washing - only pads I know of that can claim that feature. My son said he feels safer in these pads too. I also bought (though not at Sports Unlimited because they didn't stock it) the back pad (Wilson calls it a Kick Plate), which attaches with two Velcro straps to slotted plastic tabs on the shoulder pads. They come in two sizes. I got the smaller of the two for shoulder pad sizes XS to M. I purchased the Kick Plate on Amazon. One note: the pads run a bit small. Based on he sizing chart (weight, chest circumference and shoulder width), my son should have been a small. But those were too small and we exchanged them for medium, which were ideal.

Great Shoulder Pads
October 14, 2012
My son loves these shoulder pads. He grew out of the 1st gen Wilson X after 2 years and the pads were so great that II was willing to purchase a larger size only to realize Wilson redesigned them even better. If sized properly, they fit the body well for excellent movement. My son plays RB, WR, and OLB 13yr old Pop Warner. God job with these Wilson.

My son is iin his 3rd year of football and has always complained about the usual shoulder pads. these are the BEST! They are super light, flexible for skill positions, but offer excelelnt protection. Worth paying the money I guarantee it!

Solid, light weight and allow full range of motion for skill positions. The difference with these pads is the core upper chest and upper back protection that they provide. When properly fitted, there is little in the way of pad flapping.

This is my son's second set. And we won't look at anything else. Fit,comfort and protection is all there. They hug the body and don't flap around and are very light.

Questions & Answers

My son is 62 lbs, 25" chest, 11" shoulders. Some reviews say these run small. What size should I order?
By Customer Service on March 21, 2013

His best bet would be to go with the XXS. His measurements are under the top limits for this size, so even if they run a little small, they should still fit him snugly and comfortably.

Do you have the XS in stock?
By Customer Service on March 22, 2013

Yes, we just received a new shipment of these shoulder pads, with more on the way! All of the sizes should be available for order by the end of the day.
