Types of Rib Protection
A football rib protector covers the area between the bottom of the shoulder pads and the top of the pants, and it comes in three main forms.

Nike Pro HyperStrong 4 Pad: The 4 Pad compression shirt is available in men's and youth sizes, with the updated 2.0 version available for both. Its pads sit inside sleeves for seamless integration with a shoulder pad.
Choosing by Position: Linemen and tight ends often lean toward hard-shell protection, while defensive backs and skill players may prefer a vest or padded shirt. A back plate pairs with any of these options.

Attaching to Pads: Douglas hard shells are designed to attach directly to Douglas pads. The Custom Pro Combo can also work with other shoulder-pad brands, though some setups may require drilling holes in the plastic to match the mounting slots.
Sizing: Vests and compression shirts are sized by chest measurement, with options for adult and youth players. Hard shells are available in 4-inch and 6-inch heights to provide different levels of torso coverage. Both offer a universal fit across most pads.
