Gill Athletics has revolutionized the design of sand pit forms and catcher systems to improve installation, functionality, and long-term performance for track and field facilities. After years of traditional designs that overlooked practical use and maintenance, Gill's engineering team developed the Functional-Form Sand Pit and Catcher System, a modern solution designed to simplify installation while providing superior sand containment.
The Sand Pit Form with Side, Front, and Back Sand Catchers provides the most complete sand management system in the Gill lineup. Integrated catcher channels surround the pit to capture displaced sand from every direction, helping keep the runway and surrounding track surface cleaner. The sand catcher system allows excess sand to be conveniently stored when the pit is covered and quickly returned to the pit for competition use, while the additional catchers at the front and back further reduce cleanup and maintenance.
Each sand pit form includes a built-in ledge designed to receive an aluminum sand pit cover, allowing the pit to be securely protected when not in use. Compatible cover systems can be ordered with the forms or purchased after installation and measurement to ensure a precise fit.
Constructed from specially folded 1/8" aluminum, the prefabricated system offers excellent rigidity and durability while remaining easy to install. The design facilitates efficient setup and concrete pours and meets NFHS, NCAA, and IAAF specifications for long jump and triple jump competition facilities.
Sand catcher covers are available in two configurations: galvanized steel bar grating with a perforated rubber overlay or aluminum sheet metal with a recessed tray designed to receive track surface material, allowing the covers to blend seamlessly with the surrounding track.
