The folding design allows for speedy storage and deployment which is fantastic when moving between terrain where poles aren't needed, like scrambling, and when they are needed, like a gradual downhill. The carbon fiber construction makes it lightweight, more so than the aluminum model. The aluminum version is more forgiving to damage than the carbon poles, choose your own adventure and pick the poles that will work best for you!
