Riddell SpeedFlex Youth Football Helmet
The Riddell SpeedFlex Youth Football Helmet is destined to be a game changer. With the same great technological advancements as the adult version, the youth SpeedFlex is built to lower force from high +and low velocity impacts. With a distinctive look that features a flex panel on the top of the helmet and a rachet-loc chinstrap, the SpeedFlex has been designed to perform like no other football helmet before it.
- FEATURES:
- Patented Side Impact Protection (PISP) helps reduce force from side impacts
- The Flex System is flexibility engineering into the shell, facemask and clip to reduce impact force
- Composite Energy Management keeps the strategically placed padding inside the helmet in place during games and practices
- All-points quick release makes attaching and detaching facemasks easy
- Ratchet-Loc retention system is an easier way to adjust your chinstrap on the fly
- Inflatable custom fit liner and jaw pads help provide a perfect fit
- Four inflation points: lateral liner, occipital liner and one at each jaw pad
- No inflation point at the crown liner
- PLEASE NOTE: all inflatable jaw pads require a Riddell Football Helmet Inflator Pump to inflate, and Glycerin to adequately lubricate inflation needle
- After needle and valve are lubricated, insert the needle with a careful twisting motion
- Do NOT use an inflation needle other than those specially designed for Riddell helmets. These needles are the correct length, and should not puncture the liners if properly used
- WARNING: Product cannot be returned or exchanged if liner is damaged or punctured due to improper inflation or needle use
- A flexible liner designed for various head shapes provides comfort and stability
- Removable moisture-resistant liner cover
- The High Strength Spring Stainless Steel (HS4) facemask is thinner and lighter than other Riddell facemasks
- Includes unattached white small soft cup ratchet loc chinstrap. Upgrade to hard cup or TCP for additional charge

Disappointed
I bought the Speedflex and my son found the helmet comfy when he put it on and it has great ventilation but that's where the positive experience started to fall flat. Two of the inflation points did not work. Also the caps for the inflation holes are delicate. They actually screw on to the valves which is a cool idea but what happens when you break the cap in a hit? The valve just floats in the space which is a design flaw in my opinion. I also HATE the ratchet chin straps for kids. It's extremely difficult for peewee players to use. They need snaps. For a middle school or high school kid it is not bad. I'm also curious what happens when mud gets in the ratchet. I hate the fact that you cannot use other vendor chinstraps such as UA for example. Your are held hostage to Riddell in this regard. The ratchet really was what killed it for me. My kid wasn't able to use it well. Heck, I had trouble with it. I'll be going back to the Speed.

Yes, both the youth and adult helmet have the same sizing. Other than the shell material, the helmets are very similar and have the same fit. Just go by the size chart using head circumference to find the right size.

No, that weight includes the chinstrap and facemask. With a facemask and chinstrap, most Schutt helmets are in the same weight range. Xenith helmets weigh more.

There is a piece on the outside and the inside of the helmet that secure the buckle to the helmet that you will need to remove. There are instructions in the included manual about how to do this properly.

You can change the chinstrap, but it must be replaced with another speedflex cinstrap with the ratchet-style connector.
