The Gill Athletics High School Aluminum Discus Cage with Rear Door Access is designed to improve both safety and efficiency during discus training and competition. Built to meet NFHS specifications, this cage provides reliable containment while allowing athletes to enter the throwing area from the rear of the cage, keeping them away from the active throwing sector.
The cage features 2-7/8" outside diameter 6063-T6 aluminum net poles with a rolled offset design to enhance safety and reduce wear on the net. These high-strength aluminum poles offer excellent durability and corrosion resistance for long-term outdoor installations.
A weather-treated nylon net with 180 lb break strength provides dependable containment during throws, while the 13'6" net height helps ensure adequate protection for athletes, officials, and spectators. The system also includes a vinyl-coated net support cable to help reduce sag and maintain proper net tension.
The rear entry system incorporates a special cutout and additional net section at the back of the cage, allowing athletes to access the throwing circle from behind the cage structure. This design improves the flow of practice sessions and competitions by keeping athletes out of the throwing sector while entering or exiting the cage.
Each pole installs into 30-inch deep ground sleeves, creating a stable and secure installation suitable for high school track and field facilities.
