Shell and Construction

Both helmets feature an ABS plastic shell designed for youth players. The SpeedFlex has a distinctive flex panel built into the crown to absorb and distribute impact forces, while the Victor-i uses the Revolution Speed shell design with an extended jaw flap and offset shell structure to enhance side protection.

Impact Protection

The SpeedFlex uses a Flex System that integrates flexibility into the shell, facemask, and clips, combined with Patented Side Impact Protection (PISP) and Composite Energy Management to reduce both high and low velocity impacts. The Victor-i includes Patented Side Impact Protection as well and extends its interior liner into the mandible area to enhance energy absorption during impacts.

Fit and Adjustability

Both helmets are inflatable and designed for a more personalized fit. The SpeedFlex includes four inflation points—lateral liner, occipital liner, and both jaw pads—with an inflatable liner system and a flexible shell interior. The Victor-i features inflatable rear and jaw liners and uses a comfort overliner that is removable and moisture-resistant. Each helmet aims to provide a snug, comfortable fit with customizable inflation zones.

Padding and Interior

The SpeedFlex includes foam padding with an overliner and strategically placed inserts to maintain structure during play. The Victor-i also uses foam padding and includes a cloth comfort overliner that can be removed for cleaning. While both use traditional foam padding, the SpeedFlex adds more internal complexity to manage fit and impact.

Facemask and Chinstrap

The SpeedFlex is compatible with SpeedFlex facemasks and comes with a ratchet-loc chinstrap. The Victor-i includes an S2B facemask and a soft cup chinstrap. Both helmets allow for facemask upgrades and are compatible with their respective Riddell lines.

Weight

The SpeedFlex weighs approximately 3.1 lbs, while the Victor-i is significantly lighter at around 2.2 lbs. This weight difference may influence choice depending on player size or preference for lighter gear.

Maintenance

Both helmets require proper inflation with Riddell-specific tools to avoid damaging the liners. The SpeedFlex requires more attention due to multiple inflation zones, whereas the Victor-i may be simpler to manage thanks to its more streamlined interior.
